The Montana name derives from earlier times with Montana Restaurant established in Victoria St Hamilton in 1965.
The culture of innovation and expansion were evident when in 1988 ‘out catering’ was added to the menu. The introduction of professional rugby in 1996 lead to a sea change with Montana entrusted with the original corporate hospitality at Hamilton’s Rugby Park, for the inaugural Chiefs UBix Super 12 season. The construction of what is now FMG Stadium Waikato during 2001, opening in 2002, was the catalyst for the new company’s birth.
Today Montana Catering 2001 Ltd has been joined by Montana Catering Auckland Ltd with a diverse client and brand base. Major contracts with: the Universities of Auckland and Waikato, exclusive venue based contracts with Hamilton City Council’s H3 suite of sites (FMG Stadium Waikato, Claudelands Events Centre, Seddon Park and The Grandstand), Karaka, an Education Division managing St Peter’s Cambridge and Auckland Grammar, and partnerships with national and international events, such as Auckland City Limits, Rhythm & Vines and the HSBC NZ Sevens Tournament, have propelled the company to its national leadership position.
