Each semester, your menus are developed by our team of creative chefs, considering seasonality, cultural diversity, and constructive feedback from students. Menus are then reviewed by our in-house NZ-registered dietitian, in accordance with the following guidelines:
• Ministry of Health’s Eating and Activity Guidelines for New Zealand Adults
• National Heart Foundation’s Food Service Guidelines
• National Health and Medical Research Council Australian Dietary Guidelines
All of our dining halls can cater for students with dietary requirements.
If you would like to speak to someone regarding your dietary requirement(s) and discuss how we can better support your dining experience and nutrition whilst at the dining hall, you can reach out to us through your residence hall manager! Alternatively, you can also reach us through our Ask a Dietitian or contact form.
Supplier Spotlight: Local Sausies from Angus Meats
Our Bangers & Mash Day wouldn’t be complete without the star of the plate – our locally sourced sausages. Proudly supplied by Angus Meats, a family-owned butcher in Christchurch, these sausages bring quality, flavour, and sustainability straight from the local community to our dining hall.
Angus Meats processes only New Zealand-grown, export-standard meats. All stock is naturally bred, reared, and fed on open pasture, ensuring a product that is both ethical and sustainable. Their beef and lamb are Quality Mark certified, guaranteeing leanness, tenderness, and food safety.
By choosing a local supplier, we not only support Canterbury’s food producers, but also reduce our environmental footprint - keeping our meals fresh, sustainable, and connected to the place our students call home.
Next time you enjoy our Bangers & Mash you can taste the difference that local sourcing and thoughtful production make.
