Our Commitment

Throughout our history, we have donated over $2.4m through sponsorship and community contributions.

Some of these communities include:

Sunrise Rotary Waikato, Sport Waikato, Auckland Zoo Conservation Programme, Cancer Society, Te Waka Waikato Regional Development Agency, Northern Districts Cricket, Perago Trust, Halberg Foundation, NZSO Hospice Waikato, Toi Wahine, & KidsCan Charitable Trust.

MG have worked very closely with Hospice Waikato since 2013 to deliver the largest and most high-profile gala dinner event in the Waikato. For 1,000 guests, Montana provide the bespoke three-course plated dinner, canapes, all beverage and staff including Chefs, Front of House and management free of charge.

Through our Village brand, we employ a number of retail staff for major events. Typically we recruit school and charity groups and have a long-term agreement with Sunrise Rotary to provide staff. At our most recent HSBC NZ Sevens we have donated over $50,000 to various organisations.

everybody will look after you.”

As an organisation our vision is to have zero impact on our environment and through the operation of our group of businesses.

To do this, we have a four goals across each of our brands:

  • Minimise and manage waste responsibly across the business

  • Develop menus, offers and events that support local growers and suppliers

  • Offset our impact with community contributions and support concepts

  • Highlight to our customer base how they can be sustainable with their catering and event habits

  • Food waste is minimised through clever ordering and planning and where refuse is generated, it is diverted from landfill to an MPI accredited piggery.

  • Waste is sorted appropriately and where possible, is recycled, reused or composted. Perishable food is given to food rescue organisation, City Mission, charities etc.

  • We employ a ‘reduce. reuse, recycle’ policy, particularly in our office environments. Office stationery and paper is reused, printed efficiently and recycled. Our food, beverage and maintenance teams use energy efficient and sustainable methods to prepare and store all products and maintain our working spaces.

  • Where possible, we source ingredients from local suppliers which enables us to support the region and New Zealand businesses. Our unofficial motto “real chefs cooking real food” runs through the entire company with an emphasis on fresh local produce, meats and seafood, selected and prepared to retain their nutritional qualities.

  • We actively minimise vehicle movement within the business.

  • Compostable bio packaging is utilised for any disposable items and we actively promote reusable crockery/cutlery/ drinkware to our clients.

  • We have created new plant-based sustainable menus for our customers.

  • We actively engage with our contract partners to develop new policies and innovations through Sustainability committees and departments.

  • We regularly support our communities in a number of ways.

This is how we do our bit:
